Webs of Words

Overview

“Look at us now, so clever and proud! Spinning stories to gather the crowd.” Whisper and Weave spin webs of wicked words to get the town’s attention, but when a magic mirror confronts them and reveals the chaos they have caused, the spiders realise that kindness, not mischief, has the power to make everyone feel seen.

Author Information

Author: Stephanie Ley is an Australian teacher and children’s author based in Townsville, Queensland. With over a decade of experience in education and a Master of Guidance and Counselling, she brings her passion for socialemotional learning to life through imaginative stories that resonate with young readers. Inspired by her work with children and families, Stephanie creates books that not only nurture emotional intelligence but also encourage the exploration of feelings and the building of positive relationships. Her commitment to emotional wellbeing is woven into every story, offering parents, caregivers, specialists, and educators a resource to help children grow, understand their emotions, and develop strong, healthy connections. Through her work, Stephanie guides children on their journey of emotional growth, one story at a time. Illustrator: Julie Spencer is a French-Australian children’s book illustrator based on the Mornington Peninsula, where she lives with her husband and two little girls. Her children inspire every single piece of her work, and she enjoys creating bright and colourful illustrations with watercolour and coloured pencil. New to the children’s book industry, Julie previously was in events and marketing for over fifteen years, before going back to her passion.
