OverviewBerlin, 1942. Manny Hoffman is desperate to escape the confines of living with his mother at the age of twenty-three. Rudi Klein is a popular part of Berlin's underground gay scene, with a plan to fool the Nazis. When both are arrested and transported to Dachau's notorious concentration camp, neither expect to find in each other something worth living for. Thrown together by chance, a tender and unforeseen relationship blossoms. In a place of unspeakable evil, can they hold on to their humanity and each other, when every day could be their last? From new novelist Katie Moore comes a tale of forbidden love in the face of unspeakable evil, that highlights a lesser-known side of the Holocaust and explores the lives, hopes, agonies and deaths of other prisoners. Her debut draws you into the desperate world of concentration camps; whilst reminding us that beauty can be found anywhere and hope contained within the human spirit never dies. Table of ContentsReviews""Under the Pink Triangle by Katie Moore is among the most unique perspectives I've come across in fiction set during the Holocaust, amplified by the multiple point of view characters whose lives and often tragic deaths we follow. Manny and Rudi are central, but Moore makes some incredibly thoughtful shifts to short vignettes of other prisoners whose fates punctuate the main, overriding plot. [...] Moore writes in simple, straightforward prose and does not hold back on the horrifying details, including executions, sexual assault, torture, and extreme humiliation, through to the death marches and Final Solution. This is not an easy read but it is an important one and is a valiant addition to the canon of LGBTQ+ literature."" - Readers' Favorite Author InformationKatie Moore is a third-time author and published poet, with a degree in Drama and Creative Writing. Obsessed with books from a young age, she was often chastised at school for writing stories instead of paying attention in lessons. Her fascination with romance, LGBTQ and historical fiction stretches back decades; the inspiration for Under the Pink Triangle springing to life when a hedgehog wandered into her tour group, during a visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. When she is not writing, Katie loves reading, drawing cartoons and photography; her personal mission being to seek out the beauty in everyday life. She also sings in her local choir and volunteers as a DJ at her hometown's community radio station. Under the Pink Triangle is her first novel.
