TWID – Traveling, Wondering, Imaginative, Dweller

Overview

Lillian Longwood is my name. I was nearly turning 13 when I discovered the truth. Changing one's perspective thoughts only teaches your mind far greater than you or I could ever imagine. Understanding greater knowledge of the unknown that was finally known was far beyond an adventure but a whole new beginning for not just myself but for everyone that is a traveling, wondering, imaginative dweller. Anybody with a creative ability to create or anyone with any kind of talent whatsoever is a Twid. Everyone with no talent or no imagination is called an Unimaginative Dweller. The mysterious within one world brought into our own world you will never know until you open this book. Many adventures bring together friendships and family within this book.

Author Information

Alicia Medeiros was born in Alpine, Texas. Not long after, she was adopted by an amazing family who raised her in the small town of Jameson, Missouri. With a population of around 100 people, the town was so small that it was often referred to as a village. She loved growing up there, surrounded by many wonderful families. Eventually, she moved to Gallatin, Missouri, and graduated in 2001 as a Bulldog. That same year, she had her first daughter, Kayla, and soon after, she married and later welcomed two more children, Kylie and Ethan. After 13 years of marriage, the couple parted ways, each venturing down a different path. She is now a single mother of three adult children and remains dedicated to her work and family. Alicia wrote this book within the walls of DOC in Chillicothe, Missouri, in 2019. During that time, she emerged from a dark place and shifted her mindset toward a better future. She hopes that inmates come to understand-as she once did-that leaving a correctional facility does not signal the end of one's life or the impossibility of change. She believes that everyone can grow despite past mistakes and aspires to inspire not only prisoners but all people. In her view, one's past does not define who one is, but rather what one is capable of overcoming to become stronger. Every individual faces their own battles each day, and true happiness resides within the mind. Embracing the creative potential within each person, she enjoyed creating this book for her readers and family. She wanted them to explore the unknown depths within themselves and to appreciate the idea that 'knowledge is power'. Believing that the creative mind can shape a unique world through one's thoughts and actions, she aimed to open the minds of others. Her passion for creativity shines through on every page, and she hopes her work sparks a new imaginative perspective in those who read it. At 43, she has learned many valuable lessons in life. She completed this book outside the walls of DOC in Cameron, Missouri. She also cares for a female German Shepherd named Gemma and two adored cats. Inspired by authors such as J. K. Rowling and Lewis Carroll-whom she has long admired-she believes that if one speaks positive affirmations into existence, change will manifest. Her varied interests include writing, drawing, gaming, planting, collecting, and decorating, and she enjoys scary movies, action films, comedy, music, and lifelong learning. Humble and kind, she holds that each person chooses their own path in life, and that happiness is key to managing the daily functions of the mind.
