Newman has been the editor of the Newsday Sunday crossword puzzle since 1988 and the editor of the Newsday daily crossword puzzle since 1992.His puzzles have appeared regularly inPrevention,People,Sport, andBloomberg Businessweekmagazines. He has organized and conducted many puzzle and trivia events in the United States, including four seminars at the Smithsonian Institution and, in 2007, the first crossword tournament ever held at Yale University.He has authored or edited more than 200 puzzle books.
