Shafiqul Islam has completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in the United Kingdom. He earned his PhD in Disaster Management from the University of Dhaka. Currently, Dr. Islam is a faculty member in the Department of Environmental Science at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology in Bangladesh. With over thirty years of experience, his work spans the education and development sectors, focusing on Sustainable Waste Management, Organic Farming, Climate Change Adaptation, Disaster Risk Reduction, Sustainable Development, and enhancing the social-ecological resilience of communities facing coastal disasters and environmental hazards. He has also facilitated corporate training and skill development, creating training modules in these areas. Dr. Islam has served as an editor, reviewer, and author for numerous books, articles, and book chapters, with his work published in international journals and by esteemed publishers such as IGI Global, Emerald, Springer Nature, Apple Academic Press, Taylor and Francis-Routledge, and UPL. He contributed to the UN Sustainable Development Report in 2016. His latest single-author book, titled “Cultivation and Drought Management in Agriculture,” was published by Springer Nature in 2023.
