Author Information

Dr. Desmond Oriakhogba is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Private law, University of the Western Cape, South Africa and an independent consultant of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He is also an Associate Editor, South African Intellectual Property Law Journal and a Queen Elizabeth Scholar. Desmond is part of several international research and advocacy networks, including the Academic Network on the Right to Research in International Copyright coordinated by the Program on Information Justice and Intellectual Property (PIJIP), and the Open African Innovation Research (Open AIR) Network. He obtained his LLM and LLB degrees from the University of Benin in 2014 and 2007 respectively, and PhD in commercial law (focus on intellectual property and competition law) from the University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa in 2019.
