OverviewThe evolution of Western culture is described by means of molecular genetics and the role played by inborn human traits, cultural genetics and the question of transmission of cultural traits from generation to generation: genetical algorithms and genetics as a cognitive strategy. Cultural traits are described as rules. ""Rule adjustment"", a principle discovered by Artificial Life experiments, corresponds with a main characteristic of Western culture; the decorum phenomenon. Decorum and the principle of stress combined with cooperation, called maximal stress cooperation (MSC), appearing within the cultural context as the sublime, are the main features of Western cultural evolution.
