Overview

A glamorous and dynamic policewoman has no boundaries to her ambition. Nothing she won't do to get what she wants. She's screwed her way to her detective's badge leaving a debris trail of used colleagues. Her single minded desire is to emulate her father and be a real-life TV detective assigned to all the high profile cases. But homicide gave her none of the glamour she craved until the day she's called out, not to the mangled corpse of some crackhead's bitch, but to the elegantly arranged body of a dead cheerleader with her lips cut off. The body's appearance ignites a memory in the back of her mind but she cannot fathom why it is important. Flashbacks show the gradual breakdown of her relationship with her ex-boyfriend. She treated him with contempt. Each one of her throwaway slights cut him like a scalpel. To her disbelief, more senior detectives are assigned to the cheerleader case but she's having none of it. She takes the lieutenant to bed with permission to let his imagination run wild if she gets on the case. For security, she takes compromising photos. The case his hers. The body count rises, each murder weirder than the last. The corpses are arranged or murdered in such a way as to hold some sort of message. Finally she recognises a murder victim and understands the messages are for her. The murderer is talking to her through his victims. They are her ex-boyfriend's old girlfriends. At first she hides the fact from the department that her ex is the murderer with her as his intended final victim. She desperately seeks out his other lovers to warn them but they keep on getting murdered until only she remains. She must find him or die.
