Author Information

TOM CAIN is Emeritus Professor of Early Modern Literature at Newcastle University, where he previously served as Professor and Head of the School of English. He has held visiting appointments at the University of Michigan and Exeter University. A leading scholar of seventeenth-century literature, Cain has published extensively on Shakespeare, Donne, Jonson, and Herrick, and edited major texts including Ben Jonson’s Complete Poems, The Complete Poetry of Robert Herrick, and Nicholas Hilliard’s Arte of Limning.
