Author R. S. Twells never planned to write young-adult spy novels, let alone publish a whole series of them. But when these characters started appearing to her at a particularly low point in her life, navigating their own emotionally convoluted paths and overcoming countless difficulties, she found herself compelled to follow them and see where they might take her. It wasn't until the first book in this series, The Field Agent, won first place in the Best Indie Book Awards in 2022, and went on to be a finalist for both the Next Generation Indie Book Awards 2022 and the 16th annual National Indie Excellence Awards, that she realized she might be onto something.
