The Evening Song

Overview

At dusk in the highlands of Gusii, Moraa Nyabwororo tends the evening fire, the heart of her home, the keeper of her people's multigenerational memory. In its glow, the voices of the past still speak. Before her birth, her father Anuri sought the seers for answers to grief he could not name. Into his household came Moraa Ng'iti, who was the aunt of the fallen warrior Otenyo, a woman of visions and sorrow, fleeing the violence that claimed her kin. From Moraa Ng'iti, the young Nyabwororo inherits more than stories. She also learns the fire's secret language of resistance and remembrance. From Otenyo's broken spear rises a fragile hope that even when thunder fades, a people's voice endures. The Evening Song is a haunting intergenerational epic of prophecy, grief, remembrance, and resilience; a testament to survival as defiance.
