Overview

A fantastic source or reference book for anyone seeking inspiration for Art Nouveau projects or ideas. With over 250 line illustrations, this book is packed with ideas that can be used to create a whole range of decorative projects. Here you will discover simple and ornate borders, stylised flowers, beautiful birds and butterflies, figures, fruit and much more. You do not need artistic skills, just photocopy or trace the motifs, pictures and patterns, then transfer them on to your project pieces. You will soon discover how easy it is to make unique designs for yourself, or friends and family. The first section of the book offers a gallery of finished pieces which show how the illustrations can be used to decorate cards, boxes, panels, a bookmark and a cushion. The techniques vary from simple colouring and layering to glass painting, parchment craft and embossing. This book uses material from the Design Source Book series, Classic Glass Painting and Art Nouveau Cards by Judy Balchin.

Artbookreview.net:This book consists of a huge variety of outline patterns you can copy or trace and include in a any craft project. Aimed at those who want to make rather than draw, it means that you can concentrate on what you do best rather then being let down by skills you don't have and, frankly, don't need. The first dozen or so pages are taken up with photographs of various project ideas, with a brief description of each but no detailed process instructions. To be fair, this is not a how-to book and anything further would only take up space that's best devoted to the matter in hand, the designs. So, if you want to make a card, fabric, pottery or glass project based on art nouveau but don't have the skill or the resources to do the basic drawing, this book is for you. It's not really something you can review in the traditional sense. It does what it says and, if this is what you want, then it's for you.Cake Craft & Decoration:Over 300 Art Nouveau black and white line drawings, which are taken from the three other books in the design source series. As well as the various stylised designs for flowers, borders and motifs there is a section which shows assorted crafts, putting these designs into practice. For lovers of Art Nouveau this is a must and will provide inspiration for some extremely stylish cakes.Guild of Silk Painters:The Complete Book of Art Nouveau Designs from Search Press is a comprehensive selection of designs taken from their three other Art Nouveau source books:Art Nouveau DesignsArt Nouveau Borders & MotifsArt Nouveau FlowersThe Introduction is followed by a number of interesting project ideas including a silk painted cushion.
