Ten Steps to Prevent World War Three: 'Thoughtful, thought-provoking and clear-eyed . . . an urgent call to action' – PETER FRANKOPAN

Overview

'Crucial reading on why our global order has come apart at the seams '- WILLIAM HAGUE 'A thoughtful, thought-provoking and clear-eyed assessment of a rapidly changing world - and an urgent call to action' - PETER FRANKOPAN 'An expert voice for troubled times ' - JOHN KERRY 'A fresh, provocative, and terrifying portrait of the crumbling world order' - RORY STEWART 'Engaging and insightful, this book ... offers practical steps that world leaders and everyday citizens alike can take to navigate them with purpose' - GENERAL JIM MATTIS, USMC RTD An urgent call-to-action outlining how we can prevent a global conflict in the near-future from Tobias Ellwood, former soldier, Foreign Minister, Defence Minister and Chair of the House of Commons Defence Select Committee. As the global order fractures, conflict is returning - and we are not prepared. Another world war is no longer unthinkable. But unlike the last, it will not be fought on a single front. Instead, there will be multiple conflicts, across multiple domains, including Russia and Ukraine, Iran and the United States. A new cold war has already begun, where influence, information and ideology are weaponised, and America and China compete to shape the future. How did we get here? What must be done? And where is the statecraft needed to prevent a slide into World War Three? In Ten Steps to Prevent World War Three, Tobias Ellwood draws on frontline experience, history and geopolitical insight to set out a clear and urgent plan: rebuilding our hard power, restoring our soft power, strengthening alliances, and creating the off-ramps needed to step back from the brink. The stakes could not be higher. But the future is not yet decided. These are the steps that will lead us out of conflict and into a better world.

Author Information

Tobias Ellwood is a leading expert and commentator in the fields of geopolitics, foreign relations, military strategy, terrorism, defence, British politics, Ukraine, the Middle East, and NATO. His insights are informed by nearly two decades as a Member of Parliament (UK), during which he also served as a Foreign Minister, Defence Minister, and Chair of the House of Commons Defence Committee. This extensive leadership placed him at the forefront of UK foreign relations and security. Ellwood's distinguished career began long before his time in Parliament. As an officer in the British Army's Royal Green Jackets, he gained firsthand experience in military operations-experience that has deeply influenced his strategic approach to defence and international policy. Over the years, Ellwood's engagements have ranged from private tea with Vladimir Putin, where he observed the inner workings of Russian diplomacy, to working closely with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on critical Middle East policy initiatives.
