Author Information

Susan Iverson began weaving in college. She has an MFA from Tyler School of Art at Temple University and a BFA from Colorado State University. She was a professor at Virginia Commonwealth University in the Department of Craft/Material Studies for 40 years and has taught all levels of textile classes. She has held workshops on the pulled-warp technique, including at Penland School of Craft, and has used it widely in her work as a studio artist. Her art has been exhibited widely throughout the United States and in Canada, Italy, Poland, Australia, and Uzbekistan. Her tapestries are in many collections, including the Art in Embassies Program, Capital One, the Avenir Museum (CO), and the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC. Iverson lives and works in rural Virginia.
