OverviewThis work is devoted to the biology of the src family of proto-oncogene products in leukocytes. This gene family encodes nonreceptor protein tyrosine kinases (PTKs) and consists of nine members, many of which are expressed exclusively or at high levels in leukocytes. These kinases are thoroughly reviewed and the eight other families of nonreceptor PTKs are briefly introduced. Those PTKs known or suspected to react with src-family PTKs are discussed in more detail. The book also considers the regulation of the src-family kinases, their physiological functions in leukocytes, and the few known and many suspected substrates of these kinases. The final chapter summarizes current understanding of the biology of the src-family PTKs and attempts to draw a few projections regarding the future. Full Product DetailsAuthor: T.
