Square Eyes

Overview

Little Joe Jackson is a tele-bug who loves nothing more than watching TV and spending all his time on his iPad. His brother, Johnny, adores the outdoors and misses spending time with Joe, who never comes out to play. But one day, something happens to Joe that changes his childhood forever and brings the brothers closer together. This heart-warming tale explores the joys of childhood and reminds readers of the importance of cherishing this fleeting time. In an age where children are increasingly drawn to social media, gaming, and screens, the story highlights the value of stepping outside to enjoy fresh air and outdoor adventures. With a nostalgic nod to the pre-1990s era, this book encourages kids to limit their screen time and embrace the simple joys of outdoor play creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Author Information

Lisa Kellett-Jones was born in 1981 and is married with two young children. She grew up at a time when kids played all day and night in the street and was a self confessed tele bug . Her parents always said her eyes would go square from watching too many cartoons on TV, a device that has been replaced by the wonderful iPads and gadgets of today. . Her hope is that this book engages children to really embrace their true childhood by reducing screen-time and getting back to basics of what is real in a world where virtual reality is taking over.. When she s not working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She continues to write children s fiction, taking after her grand mother Elise, a published romance novelist, and hopes to continue in her footsteps.
