OverviewMeet Sedrick, a mischievous 7-year-old boy who loves to visit his local tearoom. His favourite drink is a large hot chocolate with ALL the trimmings. One day sat in the tearoom bored while his mum is glued to her mobile phone, Sedrick gets swallowed whole by his cup and transported to a faraway land called Hopeland. Hopeland, part of THE Freeverse, is a wonderful place where life is centred around the giant rainbow that dominates the land. Once in Hopeland Sedrick is transformed into a grey ball of fluff, or Hoper as they are known in Hopeland. Here he becomes friends with two of them, Sofia and Bart. Whilst whizzing around on purple clouds, Sofia and Bart guide him through life in Hopeland and the different coloured arcs of the rainbow, having fun and learning along the way. A book of short stories, Sedrick's Adventures in Hopeland, captures his journey and adventures through Hopeland and the arcs of the rainbow. What does Sedrick discover at the end of the rainbow? Table of ContentsReviewsReading from a 'teacher-y' point of view, I love the range of punctuation (semi-colons, dashes, and hyphens are great for Ks2 punctuation/grammar). The exposure to a wider range of vocabulary, which they won't have heard, provides a great talking point and encourages them to use the new words in other contexts. Sedrick also sounds very cool! I think they'd really enjoy it. I thoroughly enjoyed it. - Kay Johnston (former school deputy head teacher.) Looking back now she sees this as the best thing to ever have happened to her. Her passions include connecting with nature through herbalism, raising awareness of the major transformation that is the Menopause, writing and art. Art is her true passion that goes back to her childhood. She was always happiest when she was drawing or painting, but sadly that passion got neglected once she stepped on that 'treadmill' (except for the endless doodles scrawled over my notebooks - it was always trying to get out!). As 2024 dawned, Steph decided that it was about time she focused on her true passion and unleashed her creative talents. She loves drawing, illustrating (I have a very vivid imagination), working with watercolours and crafting. Who knows where her art will take her, but when we unleash our passions we inspire, bring hope and just maybe help to make this place we call home a better place.
