He grew up in Newburgh, New York, a small city 60 miles north of Manhattan. While earning a Bachelor's Degree in Science at SUNY- Albany, he was the only physics major in his Creative Writing course. During his 40 years in education he served as a high school and college teacher and business administrator. In 2009 he retired to New Jersey's Long Beach Island with his wife, artist Pat Morgan. SEA GLASS PEOPLE - Portraits in Words and Watercolors is their second collaboration of poetry and watercolors. Their first book, I AM SEA GLASS - A Collection of Poetic Pieces, was published in 2011 and is available at Amazon.com. Richard is a regular contributor to Echoes of LBI Magazine and has been published in The Sandpaper and The Ocean County Jewish Federation Journal. He is an active member of the LBI Writers' Group. He speaks to groups throughout the region on his favorite topic, personal poetry, a view he holds that there is poetry in everyone. Pat Morgan finds everything about painting in watercolor a joy: the work, the lessons, the struggles. She has studied with well-known artists Janet Walsh, Charles Reid and Mel Stabin. Pat is an elected member of Manhattan's Salmagundi Club and a signature member of the North East Watercolor Society. When not painting or in her gardens, she shares her love of watercolor with her own students, teaching them with her natural enthusiasm. Her paintings can be seen at patmorganart.com.
