Overview

England, 1321. Margaret de Badlesmere’s husband, Barr, rides away to join forces rebelling against King Edward II. He leaves Margaret to govern their home, Leeds Castle in the County of Kent. Since retiring from a scientific career, Hilary Llewellyn has been exploring her ancestry. She discovered that she is the 19th great-granddaughter of the first known woman to be imprisoned in the Tower of London. Her discovery, in turn, led her to create a novel set in England back in 1321-1322.
