OverviewLike most developing countries, Ghana has been preoccupied, since independence, with fashioning an appropriate system of governance which is conducive to development. There is the overriding objective of development itself, which raises difficult issues about many aspects of development endeavours. These and related matters are the subject of my reflections, which I trust will make a modest contribution to the discourse on the various issues discussed in the book. The first part deals with the global picture of Ghana's development endeavours followed by an examination of several constitutional issues, including the role of chiefs in our constitutional system. The second part deals with law and development, with particular emphasis on international business transactions and the relations between developing countries and transnational corporations. The final part encompasses various addresses to educational institutions and related matters. In all, the reflections raise issues which demonstrate the complex dimensions of the development process.
