The old age is considered a final phase of life in human beings, some take it as a positive sign and embrace it whereas negative approach. The problems faced by senior citizens are generally influenced by the socio-economic factors and the surroundings. These changes hinders the social development. In India, traditionally the older individuals were given more respect and taken care of in several manner. They were considered backbone of the society. Regrettably, the scenario is changing and they are being mistreated as well as considered a nuisance. They are not valued, not respected as were in earlier times, today if we take a look upon the older people, they are neglected from their own homes, social circles and workplaces which results in them being the victim of violence. India is seeing a rise in old population. The primary agenda that is faced by the society is the challenges for securing the dignity of the senior citizens and granting them with all requisite constitutional guarantees. There is no specific legislation that deals exclusively with abuse on the aged population of the nation. Such criminal acts go unnoticed as it lacks the motivation to the senior adults to fight for justice believing it to be a stressful journey and delayed justice. There is an immediate need to strike a balance between the enforcement of the law and enactment of the norms for ensuring speedy justice to those who are victim of the abuse as they require it the most.
