She has built a solo, rural private practice; held leadership roles in academic health centers as a division chief, department chair, and assistant dean; and served as an executive coach. Sharon founded and led an Executive Coaching Program built for faculty at a major US medical school before retiring from academia to focus full-time on her executive coaching and consulting practice, which she calls her ""encore career.""
