OverviewThe second edition of this comprehensive book not only offers fully updated chapters of already presented plastic surgery treatments - such as cleft lip and palate, polydactyly and syndactyly, pigment lesions, benign and malignant skin and soft tissue tumors, and various vascular anomalies - but also introduces new chapters on the management of hypospadias, arteriovenous malformations, abdominal wall defects, and thoracic wall deformities in children and adolescents. Pediatric plastic surgery is a specific field of surgery that encompasses both reconstructive and aesthetic procedures performed during childhood. The majority of procedures in this field are reconstructive in nature, which makes careful attention to aesthetic outcomes especially important. As aesthetic procedures in children are not so frequent, only a limited number of clinicians have extensive experience with these procedures. Every chapter starts with a concise introduction and is followed by sections on classification, background on disease origin and pathogenesis, patient evaluation, treatment options and postoperative care. Supporting images and common pitfalls are also included to guide clinical practice. Based on the author’s extensive experience, this book offers pediatric plastic surgeons a valuable resource in their daily practice, while also providing an accessible introduction to the field for interested clinicians.
