Author Information

Janet Scott McDaniel, born in Catonsville, Maryland began writing poetry at age 15, but recently emerged from a 25 year hiatus to resume her life as a poet. She has an Associate of Arts degree in fine art, and a Bachelors of Arts degree in psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County. Her fine art and psychology background manifests itself in her work because she is very attuned to the visual imagery while deftly crafting the words to evoke emotion. If she can create within you that sense of joy or despair, reflection or inspiration, or create a new train of thought - it means she has accomplished what she was inspired to do - touch your heart. She was invited to read at the Legendary Women in Poetry event at Edna St. Vincent Millay's home, Steepletop, in Austerlitz, New York in July 2012. She was also a finalist in the Fermoy, Ireland International Poetry Festival, Overseas Poetry Competition for 2012. Ms. McDaniel currently lives on the East Coast. Her first book, The Light and other Collected Poems was published in September 2011.
