Overview

Volksverhalen van de Ngaju-Dayak in Midden-Kalimantan zijn met vertalingen voor het eerst verschenen in 1976. Toen werd een verhalenbundel gepubliceerd over twee volksfiguren De slimme en de domme, geschreven door dezelfde drie auteurs die nu in deze uitgave achttien dierverhalen uit dit gebied publiceren. Deze van mond tot mond doorvertelde verhalen werden door de Indonesische auteur M. Saha (1931) het eerst gehoord van zijn grootmoeder in Pangkoh aan de benedenloop van de Jahayan.
