Table of ContentsReviewsAuthor InformationDaphne Smart (nee Bowers) was born in the North Oxfordshire village of Mixbury in 1947. She attended school in nearby Fringford, and Highfield School in Bicester. Having brought up he four sons she spent her working life in Horticulture. First in a local Plant Nursery and later as Head Gardener on a small estate in North Buckinghamshire, where she continues to work to this day. Susan Barnes grew up in Mixbury, went to the High School for Girls, Brackley and read French at Birmingham University (1964 - 1967). After a Cert. Ed. she taught at the Grammar School for Girls, Stratford-on-Avon and Wilton School, Bletchley, before marrying and having two sons. She returned to teaching in 1980 until her retirement in 2007.
