OverviewMiracle on Big River is based on actual events that occurred in the spring and summer of 2025. Ray Settle discovered an eagles nest in a downed tree in the flooded Big River. Two eaglets were huddled in the nest that was slowly sinking. Ray reacts quickly to arrange to have the young eaglets saved by staff from the World Bird Sanctuary in a harrowing rescue. The eaglets were raised by a foster mom and sibling at the World Bird Sanctuary where they were taught the skills needed for survival in the wild as free birds.
