Magic City Mayhem

Overview

A supernatural noir set in contemporary Miami. Magic City Mayhem combines the investigative fantasy of Jim Butcher and Ben Aaronovitch with the cultural specificity and literary voice of Junot Dí az. The novel follows Pablo Dí az, a working-class Cuban-American necromancer forced to monetize his magic to cover his father's medical expenses. When a series of ritualistic murders exposes hidden tensions between Miami's magical elite and criminal underworld, Pablo becomes entangled in a conspiracy that threatens both his family and the city itself. Featuring bilingual English-Spanish dialogue and grounded in authentic Miami settings, the novel will appeal to adult fantasy and urban fantasy readers, particularly fans of character-driven supernatural crime fiction and culturally rooted speculative fiction. Ideal for urban fantasy shelves and crime/fantasy crossover displays. Strong potential for independent bookseller hand-selling due to its distinctive setting, humor, and crossover appeal.
