OverviewRelationships are the mechanisms established by law to ensure collaboration, partnership and cooperation between the three pillars of governance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with a view to maintaining the organic unity of the State and ensuring coherence and harmony in the exercise of State powers throughout the country. This is reflected, on the one hand, in the complementarity and interdependence of these three levels of governance, which are fully intertwined, and, on the other hand, in the necessary support provided by the higher level to the lower, while respecting the principle of free administration and management autonomy of each pillar. Relations between the State and the province are governed by laws, including law no. 08/012 of July 31, 2008, which lays down the fundamental principles of provincial self-government.
