She is the President of the Department of History of Medicine of the Portuguese Medical Association and a Researcher at the Centre for History of the University of Lisbon. She is also a Researcher at the Research Centre for Anthropology and Health at the University of Coimbra, Portugal.Christopher John Duffin is a Scientific Associate in the Earth Science Department at the Natural History Museum in London, a Research Associate at Bristol University and President of the British Society for the History of Pharmacy. An award-winning palaeontologist, he has published extensively on a wide range of fossil groups, especially sharks and their allies. A co-author of the Handbook of Paleoichthyology Volume 3D (2010), he has also edited several books on the history of medicine. João Alcindo Martins e Silva holds a PhD in Medical Sciences. He is a retired Full Professor and Director of the Institute of Physiologic Biochemistry and a former Dean (1994-2005) of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Lisbon, while he also served as President of the Portuguese Society of Medical Education.
