Engineering systems in the new economy are increasingly shaped by sharing – shared logistics, joint investments, virtual power plants, and more – a shift that calls for models that capture decentralized decision-making, resource pooling, and cooperative infrastructure. Across production, transportation, logistics, and energy, a central challenge is modeling and optimizing collective actions. This book aims to bridge game theory and systems and control by developing tools for incentive-based control in dynamic, uncertain, and networked multiagent systems; it extends both cooperative and noncooperative game models into a control-oriented framework, emphasizing feedback, learning, and decision-making under uncertainty. Dario Bauso is has been with the Jan C. Willems Center for Systems and Control, ENTEG, Faculty of Science and Engineering, University of Groningen since 2018, where he is currently Full Professor and Chair of Operations Research for Engineering Systems. He has been with the Dipartimento di Ingegneria, University of Palermo since 2005 and a guest professor at Keio University in Japan since 2018. He is the author of the book Game Theory with Engineering Applications, published by SIAM in 2016. Tamer Başar is the Swanlund Endowed Chair Emeritus, CAS Professor Emeritus of ECE, and Research Professor, CSL and ITI, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering, American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Academia Europaea, and a Fellow of IEEE, IFAC, SIAM, ACA, AIIA, and AAIA. He was Editor-in-Chief of Automatica from 2004-2014 and is editor of several book series. He is a co-author with Geert Jan Olsder of the book Noncooperative Game Theory (SIAM, 1998).
