OverviewAgriculture is the backbone of India's rural economy, supporting over two-thirds of rural households. With limited land resources and a rapidly growing population, farmers are increasingly adopting Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) to enhance income, ensure sustainability, and improve livelihood security. IFS combines crops with enterprises like dairy, poultry, goat rearing, fisheries, and horticulture, enabling diversification, better resource use, and year-round employment. This study, ""Impact of Integrated Farming System on Doubling Farmers' Income in the Konkan Region of Maharashtra,"" reveals that integrated models substantially improve farm income and employment, with the highest gains recorded in diversified systems like Agriculture + Dairy and Agriculture + Horticulture + Poultry + Dairy. The findings show clear linkages between farmers' socio-economic characteristics and the benefits realized through IFS adoption.Despite labor-related constraints, IFS stands out as a viable, sustainable, and income-enhancing strategy-offering a resilient pathway for improving rural livelihoods and advancing agricultural development in the Konkan region.
