OverviewThe letters of Ignatius of Antioch (35 - 107 A.D.) display the spiritual and pastoral concerns of an early second-century bishop, during a time when he knew that he was going to Rome to be martyred for his Christian faith. Nevertheless, he went eagerly, not wanting to be deprived of the honor of dying for his Lord Jesus Christ. In his letters, he also shows his concern for the Church, especially for the preservation of the truth, the rejection of all error, and the unity of the Church in obedience to the bishops. This translation is based on the edition by Michael W. Holmes.
