He holds a doctorate in Political Science, Philosophy and Public Law from Heidelberg University and a post-doctoral Habilitation from the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU). Prof. Krennerich was appointed Academic Director of the FAU Research Centre for Human Rights Erlangen-Nuremberg (CHREN) in July 2023. Outside of academia, he is also the chairperson of the NGO “Nuremberg Human Rights Centre” and one of the coordinators of the German NGO-network on human rights “Forum Menschenrechte”. Prof. Krennerich is co-founder and chief-editor of the academic journal “Zeitschrift für Menschenrechte - Journal for Human Rights”, funded in 2007. He has published several monographs and anthologies on human rights as well as a large number of book chapters and journal articles on the topic.
