Overview

Book XXIII of the Iliad deals with the Funeral Games of Patroclus, whose death Achilles has avenged in Book XXII with his slaying of Hector. Adrian Kelly is the Tutorial Fellow in Ancient Greek Languages and Literature at Balliol College, Oxford, and an Associate Professor and Clarendon Lecturer at the Faculty of Classics in the University of Oxford.
