S.M. Sheikh is the Curator of the Feminine Arts forRites of Passage Institute (a position she has held since 2010)where they focus on healing through the feminine arts. Raised inthe henna culture, for her, being a professional henna artist is oneaspect of a larger tradition.Her work in henna art & design has led to diverse commissions, including fashion shows, performances, weddings, retreats, artmuseum exhibits, and music album covers. She has worked as ahenna artist for over 20 years and gives lectures, workshops, andseminars on henna body art, science, and history.With a B.S. Degree in Sociology, much of her early career is inK-12 education.She lives in North Carolina with her zawj where they homeschooltheir starseeds and drink tea around the firepit!
