Green Financing in Emerging Economies: Empowering Small Enterprises for Sustainable Growth in Developing Countries

Overview

This book discusses the transformative role of green financing in steering the transition towards low-carbon economies. Specifically focusing on small enterprises in emerging and developing countries, the book unveils the peculiar green financing challenges synonymous with underdeveloped financial systems. Furthermore, it uncovers the essential contributions these entities can make towards sustainable development and innovative financing strategies amidst conventional barriers in accessing traditional financing schemes. Through a comprehensive examination of innovative financial instruments and mechanisms, such as green bonds and loans, this publication illustrates the pathways through which green financing can provide vital capital and encourage sustainable practices. While highlighting the critical role of green finance in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, this book explores the complex and uneven landscape of green financing, addressing methodological challenges such as defining green projects, lack of data, and measuring environmental impact. It calls for international cooperation in mobilizing funds, sharing knowledge, and building capacities to overcome these challenges and develop a sustainable green financing framework. Drawing knowledge from successful case studies, technological advancements in finance, and supportive policies and regulations, the book contributes to innovative financial models. It builds a robust knowledge base to inform decision-making and guide the global community towards a sustainable and resilient future. This book is an indispensable resource for policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, and academics.
