Author Information

Maria Rosario T. de Guzman is a Professor and Adolescent Development Extension Specialist in the Child, Youth, and Family Studies Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her programs of Extension and research focus on supporting healthy adolescent development and in understanding the intersections of culture, migration, and family life. She has authored over 50 publications, including Parenting from Afar (2018), which received the Gielen Award from the American Psychological Association for its contribution to psychology as a global discipline. Holly Hatton is Associate Professor and Extension Specialist in the Child, Youth, and Family Studies Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Holly's program of Extension focuses on the use of reflective practice, mindfulness, compassion and social-emotional learning to support early childhood educators, young children, and families drawing upon community-based participatory methods. She is committed to addressing issues of systemic inequities and brings these issues to the forefront of her work.
