Author Information

Christian Sardet - scientific director of Exploring the Living Cell, received his Ph.D. at the University of California, Berkeley in 1973 and has been research director at CNRS since 1983 and presided at SFBC. An established embryologist, he presently heads the BioMarCell group in Villefranche-sur-Mer, at the Marine Center of the University of Paris 6 (UPMC). He is a co-author of numerous movies, notably ""Fertilization, the story of sperm and egg"" and ""Voyage Inside the Cell"", which is included in the DVD in a shorter version. He also organizes the annual festival BioClips, Cinema of the Cell and contributes to www.bioclips.com. Dr. Sardet is one of the recipients of the 2007 EMBO Award for Communication in the Life Sciences. He was honored for, ""...presenting science in a unique format that is both enlightening and entertaining, a key requirement in winning the award. Using different media, they have produced resources for researchers, as well as for teaching and communicating science to the broader community. Veronique Kleiner - holds degrees in Art History and Film Studies from Ecole Nationale Superieure Louis Lumiere. Since 1983 she has been focusing on scientific media. She was formerly trained to work with scientific images (microscopes, etc.) and worked for SFRS, I'inserm, la Cite des Sciences et de I'Industrie, then switched to production work. She contributed to TV shows and also produces documentaries for various museums, CNRS, TV channels, etc. She met Christian Sardet at Villefrance sur mer, while filming Origine Ocean.
