For over 40 years Jules Feiffer, who has had one of the most varied and illustrious careers of any 20th century cartoonists, contributed strips to The Village Voice. Fantagraphics is proud to collect the entirety of this impressive body of work, consisting of his strips from 1956 to 1966. Explainers is the first volume in the series.

Jules Feiffer is a cartoonist, playwright, children's book author and illustrator, and member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters. He teaches a humor writing class at Stony Brook Southampton College and lives in Southampton, New York.
