Erik Satie in Piano Tab: Gymnopedie & Gnossienne No. 1

Overview

Learn to play ""Gymnopedie No.1"" and ""Gnossienne No.1"" by the French composer and pianist Erik Satie with Piano Tab; a color-coded, easy interpretation of piano music that requires little training. You will have fun playing these beautiful and heart-wrenching compositions. Gymnopedie No.1, a short piece, written in 3/4 time and the key of D Major was published in 1888. Gnossienne No.1, a melancholy classic in 4/4 time with the key of F Minor was composed around 1890. Both pieces featured in the Netflex series ""The Queen's Gambit"". Piano Tab displays right and left-hand fingering numbers with red and blue note letters. Someone with very little music reading ability could figure it out pretty quickly. This is not standard sheet music notation, it's Piano Tab! Piano Tab is a method of learning featuring unique illustrations of sheet music. The most remarkable feature about this method is that it converts standard sheet music and uses letters instead of note symbols, so those who want to play the piano can learn in a much easier and more visual way. If you're a visual learner, intimidated with the complexities of reading standard piano sheet music, and want an additional tool to learn ""Gymnopedie"" and ""Gnossienne"" by Erik Satie, this book is for you. This method of piano tab is particularly helpful for piano beginners, and for those who want to learn new songs every once in a while. Piano Tab is an interesting and fun way for musicians to play well-known songs on the piano. Piano Tab illustrations by Joseph Caligiuri.

Author Information

I currently teach piano and guitar in Chico, California. My fascination for piano began a few years ago when I completely restored and tuned my 1901 Ivers & Pond upright piano. I absolutely love the sound of that piano but found myself frustrated because I could not produce the beautiful music, I know it was worthy of. Piano Tab was first created as a tool to help me learn to play a Bach Prelude on the piano. I am basically a guitar player that wants to also play piano. As a teacher of guitar and beginning piano, I appreciate and understand the value of reading music as well as playing by ear and with over 50 years' experience involved with music, I know that reading the grand staff of piano notation is difficult and slow for most musicians. Because this method of reading piano music works so well for me, it became my mission to share it to the world and music community to enjoy.
