Author Information

It is Salim's time as a UN Peace Keeping mission commander in Bihac during the Bosnia Herzegovina conflict that forms the heart of this book. Salim discusses night infiltration flights, trade with dead bodies, and the chilling proximity of Bihac to becoming another Srebrenica massacre. With honesty and authenticity, he recounts the challenges he faced in leading soldiers who were unprepared for the harsh European winter and how they were treated as unequal for being from a third world country. Despite such adversity, the soldiers remained defiant and displayed resilience for duty, their mission, and their country. Salim has interviewed with Dean Murphy, published in La Times in 1995, and interviewed on BBC TB, Sky TV, and on the Peter Jennings Show broadcasted in the USA on ABC TV on April, 25th 1995.
