Overview

The character of every city is organic and evolving, built over time by generations of stories that are never meant to last, but nevertheless endure. Ephemeral City is set in Brisbane from the 1930s to the 2010s. Its eight stories and nine pieces of ephemera weave in and out of significant events, told by people from the margins of history, all linked in direct and circuitous ways. These are stories from my ephemeral city, the place I was born, where I have lived most of my life. A place that is amusing, exhilarating, strange, fantastic, harrowing, heartbreaking, and always intriguing.
