OverviewTo evaluate the effect of vinasse as a supplement in the last third of gestation and lactation of breeding sows, experiments were conducted using a randomized block design. A total of 480 pregnant sows (Yorkshire x Landrace) were used, with starting weights between 151-185 kg, and were grouped by parity (0-3 and 4-5) in two experiments (240 sows each) for reproductive and productive indicators. Additionally, milk production and quality, as well as health indicators, were determined for 12 sows with 4-5 parities. Vinasse was applied at 0, 2.4, 3.4, and 4.6% of the dry matter of the feed consumed. The vinasse from the ""Antonio Guiteras"" distillery showed acceptable quality for consumption, high concentrations of SCFA (Short-Chain Fatty Acids), and the presence of Lactobacillus ssp (5.58 x 10⁵ cfu). Its inclusion improved reproductive and productive indicators, milk production and quality, as well as the health of the mothers, regardless of their parity. Furthermore, it reduced diarrhea and mortality in offspring. The 4.6% level was the most effective, and a methodology for its use as a nutritional supplement in sows is established, achieving economic advantages.
