OverviewOnce upon a time, I impulsively adopted a Boston Terrier puppy. I named her Holly Golightly. Although my lifestyle at the time, which included tons of travel, wasn't ideal for dog ownership, Holly and I had a lot of fun together. She not only adapted to my adventures, she enjoyed them, and seeing her enjoyment amplified mine. For fifteen years I had the best dog. If you're willing to overlook leash pulling, a stubborn streak, a taste for eating unsavory items, and a desire to fight all other dogs, preferably to the death. Obviously, I overlooked these small flaws. Holly was wonderful company, and I was lucky to have her. She also struck me as a wise soul in her own unique and dignified way. Yes, one can eat poop and still be a diva! Sadly, our beloved dogs don't live forever. Saying goodbye is hard. I miss my dog all the time and still talk to her. I decided to write some poems in her voice, as a tribute, but also as a way to hopefully help others, too, deal with the grief of pet loss. I have also compiled a series of my favorite paintings and drawings of Holly to illustrate this volume, and I created some new ones too. I want everyone to see how beautiful she was and how her attitude came across in her expressions. I hope you will enjoy her voice, and her perspective on her final adventure. I hope she's having fun eating the hearts of her enemies on the other side.
