Dogs of War at Wounded Arrow

Overview

Shortly after his mother is killed in a car accident, Lucas returns home to Havelock to live with his dad. At his school, Lucas stumbles upon three boys recruiting another young boy to carry out a school shooting. Lucas comes away from the encounter carrying a pistol. Hidden in the butt of the gun is a flash drive containing the directives to terrorists to infiltrate Wounded Arrow, where 200 Military service dogs have been returned from the war overseas. Their goal is to place a chemical agent in the ventilators of the compound, eliminating these retired service dogs awaiting adoption as a reward for the service they provided to the US.

Author Information

Tom Frye spent 45 years as an advocate for troubled youth. He began his career in high school, serving as a street contact for a run-away shelter. When kids at a detention center asked for sequels to his stories, he knew he had discovered a way to connect with them. He has served as a mediator for his own truancy program, providing escorts to schools for alternative students. He once produced a sub-stance abuse challenge course that impacted 15,000 kids. He believes, however, that his greatest accomplishment was sum-med up by one troubled boy who wrote to him while confined: ""Discovered your book today. It was like reading a letter you wrote directly to me. Thanks for giving me hope.""
