OverviewThis book presents the findings of my research in the field of 'translation culture'. I first described and then compared the translation cultures of my home country, Poland, and the German-speaking world. I chose the audio-visual translations of the animated film ""Shrek"" as the starting point for my work. As the attitudes of Polish and German translators towards the source text differ significantly, the differences were compiled in tables according to various categories. Once the differences had been established, I sought to identify their causes. The conclusions were drawn from historical, cultural and linguistic perspectives.
