Also, this book would be of good use for universities and training institutions, given that the configuration templates have been included ? impressively for both IOS as well as IOS-XR. Also, as the definitive trend towards NGNs takes shape, more and more engineers from the traditional voice-telecom domain would be looking for knowledge on IP networks and in particular QoS in IP networks...I would expect that given the topics the book addresses, the book would be relevant for several years. Given that the CRS-1 platform of Cisco is the next generation platform that is designed to last for close to a decade, it is not inconceivable that the book has relevance for that entire period. The comprehensiveness with which the topics have been covered indicates to me that this book would indeed be a definitive guide for a long time to come. Shanmuga Sundaram, Information Technology Manager, Dell I feel the book is very relevant and much needed as on date. Most of the hardware covered is of relevance to our organization as they are the current and new generation products of Cisco. From an application standpoint ? this book is clearly a good source as it covers many of the applications and services we are currently evaluating. We are currently in the process of evaluating Cisco Telepresence, and this book will surely help us deploy such applications as per best practices. Vijayakumar M, Deputy General Manager Network Operation and IP Service Engineering, Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited. I think the book is very well organized, would help not only architects but the provisioning guys too, as a ready reference...I personally worked with Tony Jeffers, Vinod Joseph and Brett Chapman on the various TATA projects. And they have the background of the said subject, which was demonstrated during the project phase. Mahesh Kumar Jothi, Network Consulting Engineer, Cisco Advanced Services, Global Services Practice ? Service Provider Solutions. First of all , I am impressed with the overall initiative of putting together the NGN QoS deployment and to disseminate the knowledge these industry experts have gained over years. The contribution will be significant enough to the entire ?Internetworking Community? as I see deploying QoS for NGN is a biggest challenge and the Technical know-how is very low. As this book has proposed to cover the topics relating to QoS for next generation Cisco's IOS XR , this will be a significant contribution in educating all the Network Engineers and Network Architects. Deploying QoS for Cisco IP Next Generation Networks: The Definitive Guide by two distinguished network architects from Cisco Systems, Vinod Joseph and Brett Chapman, is an outstanding book covering up-to-date and novel quality of service (QoS) concepts and solutions... it is a book that cannot be missed. --Rafal Stankiewicz, IEEE Communications Magazine, October, 2010 Author Informationworks with Juniper Network as a Technical Leader within the Juniper Professional Services Organization. He is based in the UK and works with large Service Providers and customers with focus on the key areas of Network transformation, Multicast, QoS, Carrier Ethernet, Vendor Interoperability and Next Generation services. Prior to joining Juniper, Vinod worked as a Senior Network Consulting Engineer within Cisco’s World Wide Service Provider organization providing architectural design and service support to customers in the Asia Pacific and EMEA markets. This responsibility includes the planning and design of large network architectures, together with guiding deployment and providing operational advice. He has over 16 years of experience in IP networking, and built some of the largest IP/MPLS carrier networks in the EMEA, APAC, and America markets. is a Service Provider Solution Architect for Cisco Systems Singapore. Brett is responsible for the design and implementation of large, multi service IP networks in the Asia Pacific region.
