"David can be remembered as one of the few completely devoted worshipers of the Lord who learned to love him spontaneously and unreservedly. His deep surrender to God's care, fervent and faithful to the extreme, the psalmist received from the Most High the title ""a man after his own heart"", so great was his faithfulness to the Holy One of Israel. His life was based on defending his people from enemies. Waging wars and battles always victorious, he reigned over his countrymen with dignity and justice, without forgetting to be grateful to those who took him from among the sheep to honor him. As a reward while still alive, he received from the Lord the guarantee that one of his descendants would be the one who would sit on his throne forever - The Messiah - His songs and praises still sing on the lips of Christ's disciples as eternal worship, until He comes"
