Reviews

CyberFiduciary isn't a cybersecurity manual -- it's an accountability manifesto for digital leaderships. Dolan and Nielson effectively argue that cybersecurity is more fiduciary duty than technical punch-list. Bluntly, boards that can't govern digital risk aren't governing. Period.--Michael Schrage, Research Fellow at MIT Sloan School's Initiative on the Digital Economy and Board Advisor This book expertly conveys the challenges corporate directors face as cybersecurity threats evolve and pose increasingly material risks to corporations, their customers and their shareholders. More importantly it offers a clear path and actionable steps for directors, regardless of their technical experience, to provide expert oversight and meaningfully contribute to better outcomes.--David Hirsch, Former Chief of the Crypto Assets and Cyber Unit (CACU) within the SEC's Division of Enforcement, Partner at McGuireWoods

As a board governance professional, I recognize the critical importance of equipping directors to address the growing challenges of cybersecurity in an increasingly digital business landscape. This book is an indispensable guide for board members seeking to fulfill their fiduciary duties with both confidence and strategic foresight. Complex technical concepts are adeptly translated into practical governance strategies, providing actionable insights that enable directors to effectively oversee and manage cyber risk. Real-world examples and a keen understanding of current regulatory expectations offer a clear roadmap for boards to enhance oversight, foster organizational resilience, and embed cybersecurity into the fabric of strategic decision making. Safeguarding digital assets is a fundamental aspect of sound corporate governance, and this timely resource empowers boards to lead with diligence and integrity in the face of evolving cyber threats. I commend Cristina and Seth for their thoughtful analysis and pragmatic approach, which will undoubtedly elevate boardroom conversations and practices around cybersecurity.--Amy Rojik--National Managing Principal of BDO's Center for Corporate Governance In Cyberfiduciary, Cristina and Seth provide exactly what today's business leaders need: a clear, practical foundation for understanding the SEC's new cybersecurity mandates. Much like Sarbanes-Oxley reshaped financial governance, these rules elevate cyber risk to the boardroom--and this book explains why in a way that is easy to consume, insightful, and actionable. Few cybersecurity books manage to be both authoritative and digestible--this is one every board director should read.--Steven Schwartz ""The CyberSteve"" Schwartz, Chief Insurance Officer, SAFE Security, and Board Adviser The default tendency of executives is to rely on periodic tactical and technical reports to justify tech solutions that may address technical security issues. Too often, cybersecurity gets lost in translation when engaging board members and the C-suite. This leaves leadership unsure of precisely what they are funding and where residual gaps remain.--Chris Hetner, former Senior Cybersecurity Adviser to SEC Chairs Mary Jo White and Jay Clayton. Cyber Risk Adviser to the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), former Senior Member for the U.S. Department of the Treasury Financial Banking Information Infrastructure Committee
